More on the subject of Core Values…
This month we take look at the covenant God made with Israel in understanding the importance of this subject. In Genesis 12:3 God speaks to Abraham saying, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” That is a pretty powerful statement right there. He will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse her. We can understand a bit about the importance of God’s eternal covenant with the nation of Israel. Did you know that part of God’s exclusive calling with Israel was that all nations on Earth would be blessed and Israel would be a redeemed nation. It is also interesting to note that Israel was the first nation with a monolithic God. Yet because of this eternal covenant, in every area of life Israel would see the grander and the splendor of the goodness of God. We see this clearly displayed in the life of King Solomon as he ruled the nation Israel.
I personally believe that understanding God’s covenant with Israel is absolutely essential in developing a Biblical World view. Exodus 19:6 reads the following; “You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” Judaism taught that all the sacrifices, including the preeminent sacrifice of Abraham offering Isaac, were about an intercessory role for the redemption of the nations. And we must know that the heart of God in this hour is Matt 6:10 (Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven).
So, as we recognize God’s covenant with Israel as a core value, we begin to develop a worldview that understands God’s desire is to see all nations renewed. But we must ask the questions “Do Jews need to be born again”? Certainly. But also understand that in Ephesians 2 it is God’s desire is to bring together Jew and gentile for one new man. Yet we also understand that God’s faithfulness to Israel is not based on their faithfulness to Him.
I believe that in these end times we will see a great harvest in Israel and in the earth and the gospel of the Kingdom will bring transformation and change in ways we have never known. One of the focuses and the assignment of the ministry that God has given me is the Gospel of the Kingdom. This Gospel not only transforms individuals completely but also has the ability to transform nations.
