One of the truths about living a prosperous life as God intends is that we must first receive the reality of that truth. A prosperous life is a gift given to us by God himself. It is not different than any other aspect of the Kingdom of God. We needed to receive the reality of being born again. We needed to receive the reality that we’re righteous before God. We needed to receive the reality that God called us to walk like Jesus as supernatural people on the earth. In this month’s blog I would like to offer some reflections on prosperity and how it relates to the body of Christ.
1. Prosperity is not for a select group of people. Often people in the Body of Christ will take comfort when looking at prosperous individuals because they think that person is specifically gifted for prosperity. But if we look at the whole of scripture we can see that prosperity, and I mean financial, is not just for a select group of people, but is the will of God for each one of His children. And yes, culturally we see it’s easier for God’s people to prosper in a free market society. But in any society and in any setting the kingdom economic system works! In Genesis 39 we find Joseph, a slave, was receiving favor and prosperity because God was with him.
2. God is our source – and God NEVER lacks. This is one of the foundations of Kingdom economics. God always has enough and He never intends his children to lack. Think about this in the natural – a wealthy family usually produces wealthy children. They are never poor or lacking unless there is something dysfunctional in the family. So if we really live with the foundation that God is our source, then we have to realize that His children should never lack. This is actually a promise from God.
3. It is the will of God for you to prosper. I know it sounds like a simple reality, but we must live with this reality in our heart – not just our intellect. It’s a kingdom truth that must be received as a gift. The greatest thing that we could do for the world is to prosper in every way. I believe it’s a selfish mindset to think things like “If I just have enough for my family” or “If I just have enough for my ministry then I’ll be fine”. You see that actually causes us to live far below how God intended us to live and in doing so we fail to be everything to the world that God intended us to be. You need to believe this as deeply in your heart as much as believe you are saved. A number of months ago the Lord told me that He couldn’t double certain people’s income because they couldn’t receive it. So receive the gift of total prosperity in the area of finances! We must be fully convinced! How can we become fully convinced? By transforming our thinking to the Word of God. If one were to read the scripture from Genesis to Revelation – taking off your cultural filters – I believe most people would conclude, that it is absolutely God’s will for His people to be financially prosperous.
4. Obedience to God demands that we become a prosperous people. God is a God of blessing. His Kingdom is a Kingdom of blessing. When we obey Him we align with His world, then we can represent Him to the world’s system, as He deserves to be represented. So to not believe in prosperity of wealth and abundance is to live well below what God intended. If we want to maximize what God intends for us we must receive Biblical prosperity. This month I pray it would become a settled issue in your heart - which is that it’s the will of God for you and your family to prosper. I bless you to prosper and be in health and as Malachi 3:10 says; as you give tithes that God will open up the window of heaven and rebuke the devour.
I bless you to be a blessing to the nations of the earth!
