15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. (Verse 18 emphasis on “mine”)
The thought that’s constantly been on my mind recently is that that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are fully committed to you – regardless of what you’ve been through – either good or bad. This really good news! They are fully committed to the purposes of God being established in your life and they will never leave you!
Now, while they are fully committed to us, they have also given us the privilege of personal responsibility. One of the things I love about the kingdom is that everything God has asked us to do - walk in holiness, live in truth, live out His purposes – He has given us the power to do! You see, God will never ask us to do anything that he hasn’t given us the grace and the power for.
Here’s another thought. All of life in the kingdom is built on relationship. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are in this unique community that we are invited to be a part of. They invite us to be included in this incredible friendship with them. They are committed to us and they give us the privilege of responsibility and choice. The choice is; will we follow? That choice comes out of friendship.
God has so many thoughts towards us and He is fully willing to help us and give us wisdom for any and all situations. To help us, guide us, and give us peace and grace to walk through them.
God is totally committed to us and to His purposes in our life and in the church. You are not at the mercy of what’s happening to you. You are not at the mercy of anything the world’s systems tell you. God’s eyes are turned towards you so continue to turn your eyes towards Him so you can discover the secrets of the mysteries of God.
Merry Christmas! Happy Chanukah! May the year 2016 be a time of encounter, fruitfulness and purpose!
