REFLECTIONS FOR AUGUST - Continuing to Look at 2016

8/24/2016

Yes, we are in August but I want to continue to break down the word the Lord gave me for 2016! Let’s review.

2016 will be a year of unprecedented prosperity for the people of God. Great, great wealth will begin to come to those who have been standing in great faith for provision and for overflow. In previous blogs we have defined prosperity as this: God’s overwhelming desire to bless His people so we can meet the needs of humanity. This includes to be successful and flourishing, especially in financial aspects. The word unprecedented means never before known or experienced.

If you’ve read any of our previous blogs this year you’ve probably noticed that we’ve not only been going over the prophetic word for 2016 but that we’ve also added to the definition of what the word means. We do that because faith comes by hearing. Often times hearing things over and over again is critical in order to really capture what God is saying. So we renew our minds, to capture truth, to make that truth a reality. That way what’s inside us begins to define everything on the outside of us.
And with that said, I feel like this month, specifically, there is a grace to receive an overflow, especially in the area of finances. So dig into and meditate on scriptures that talk about the overflow of God. Deuteronomy 8:18 says God gives us the power to get wealth and in chapter 28 we read if we listen to the voice of God all the blessings will come upon us. Yes we want to meditate on the scriptures but I also encourage you to speak them!  Speak them over your life.

I had a dream six or seven years ago in which Jesus appeared and asked me a question. He said, “Abner, don’t you know you can have what you say?” I began explaining to Him that I understood what He was saying. I even reminded Him of how my ministry started and how I trusted in Him and in the word he gave me those many years before. The Lord then repeated his question – which was really a statement. “No Abner, don’t you understand that you can have what you say?” Again I repeated my answer. At this point He asked it again, this time in a very stern voice. “NO. Don’t you know you can have what you say?”

So where are we today? We are in a year where great wealth is coming to God’s people and in a season of incredible grace for the overflow. I encourage you to meditate and renew your mind to the truth about what God has said and is saying regarding overflow. Begin to declare what He said - and not just in finances but in every area. Then you can be a blessing to other people.

We must refuse to say anything God has not said.  I will say it again; this is a season of overflow! Some of you reading this blog are about to see this overflow with unexpected checks in the mail, jobs, and even rebates you had no idea were coming. So I bless you this month to receive your overflow and to be a blessing upon this earth - and to say only what God is saying.

REFLECTIONS FOR JULY - Prosperity Walk

8/24/2016

Let’s be honest, when it comes to the area of prosperity – and our lack of it, we often wonder we should be doing if we’re not experiencing this blessing. We know what the Bible says – but if we’re not seeing it in action in our lives we want to know why. First, we must come into agreement with Heaven that what the Bible says is truth. For instance we read in Philippians 4:19, “My God shall supply all my needs” and in Deuteronomy chapter 28 we read that if you obey the voice of God then blessings will come upon you. These are biblical truths. So in our hearts we must start at the place that the Bible is true and realize that our life is not defined by one moment or one season.  So as we look at biblical principles, just because you are not experiencing overflow in your life, don’t judge yourself by the season you are in. Understand that if you’re not walking in them now that there is no condemnation upon you.  Joseph experienced the overflow of God – but remember he was a slave first – literally owned by another. King David was a very wealthy man, but before that he was in caves fleeing for his life! So don’t put your expectation on your current circumstance but on what the word of God says. So what does the Bible teach us why about why we may not be experiencing all that God intends for us.

Number 1 and 2 are actually connected.

Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek God’s Kingdom first and these things shall follow.” Many people try and use biblical principles to simply accumulate material things to meet their own desires. Others believe in order to be something they must have “things” so they pursue the “things” instead of first pursuing God’s Kingdom.  James 1:17 teaches us that a double minded man can receive nothing from the Lord. Sometimes we tend to have one foot in the system of the world, while we stick the other foot in the Kingdom of Heaven.  We also find people making career decisions based on making more money yet they have neglected to ask God if He even wanted them to take the position.  Was He even in it? Another example of double mindedness is when a person experiences financial difficulty and their response is to stop tithing, which is actually their seed for their future. Also, please note that kingdom Prosperity is not a get rich wealth scheme.  We’re talking about a lifestyle!

Number 3.  Are you in the assignment that God has called you for?

In Genesis we see that God has given all mankind a mandate to steward the Earth. So it doesn’t matter if you’re a lawyer, athlete, policeman, or doctor you are equally called into the ministry, even as a five-fold minister is. But we must find our God given assignment and call. The talents that God has given us are where our divine prosperity is found. Many people are in professions they don’t like or enjoy. Maybe it’s what one of their parents did and they feel an obligation to follow suite – but it’s not what they are gifted for.  Instead of prospering in it they get frustrated and burnt out AND they don’t have the provision of Heaven.  Here’s the will of God for your life – that you would discover the life that Jesus came to bring you so you could represent Him accurately. And in pursuing Him first you will find your greatest joy and the prosperity of heaven. So evaluate yourself according to these principles. Is the Kingdom of God your primary vision? Are you a double minded man? Are you in the assignment that God has called you?

I bless you to be fully convinced in what God has called you to do and to experience the fullness of Him.

REFLECTIONS FOR MAY - A Prosperous Life

8/24/2016

This month I want to continue to reflect on the word the Lord gave me for 2016, specifically as it applies to prosperity. I heard the Lord say that 2016 will be a year of unprecedented prosperity for the people of God. Great, great wealth will begin to come to those who have been standing in great faith for provision, and for overflow. I defined prosperity in a previous blog as God’s overwhelming desire to bless the people of God so they can meet the needs of humanity. I want to expand upon the definition of prosperity to include “successful, flourishing - especially in financial aspects.”
One of the truths about living a prosperous life as God intends is that we must first receive the reality of that truth.  A prosperous life is a gift given to us by God himself. It is not different than any other aspect of the Kingdom of God. We needed to receive the reality of being born again. We needed to receive the reality that we’re righteous before God. We needed to receive the reality that God called us to walk like Jesus as supernatural people on the earth. In this month’s blog I would like to offer some reflections on prosperity and how it relates to the body of Christ.

1. Prosperity is not for a select group of people. Often people in the Body of Christ will take comfort when looking at prosperous individuals because they think that person is specifically gifted for prosperity. But if we look at the whole of scripture we can see that prosperity, and I mean financial, is not just for a select group of people, but is the will of God for each one of His children. And yes, culturally we see it’s easier for God’s people to prosper in a free market society. But in any society and in any setting the kingdom economic system works! In Genesis 39 we find Joseph, a slave, was receiving favor and prosperity because God was with him.

2. God is our source – and God NEVER lacks. This is one of the foundations of Kingdom economics. God always has enough and He never intends his children to lack. Think about this in the natural – a wealthy family usually produces wealthy children. They are never poor or lacking unless there is something dysfunctional in the family. So if we really live with the foundation that God is our source, then we have to realize that His children should never lack. This is actually a promise from God.

3. It is the will of God for you to prosper.  I know it sounds like a simple reality, but we must live with this reality in our heart – not just our intellect. It’s a kingdom truth that must be received as a gift. The greatest thing that we could do for the world is to prosper in every way. I believe it’s a selfish mindset to think things like “If I just have enough for my family” or “If I just have enough for my ministry then I’ll be fine”. You see that actually causes us to live far below how God intended us to live and in doing so we fail to be everything to the world that God intended us to be. You need to believe this as deeply in your heart as much as believe you are saved.  A number of months ago the Lord told me that He couldn’t double certain people’s income because they couldn’t receive it. So receive the gift of total prosperity in the area of finances! We must be fully convinced! How can we become fully convinced? By transforming our thinking to the Word of God. If one were to read the scripture from Genesis to Revelation – taking off your cultural filters – I believe most people would conclude, that it is absolutely God’s will for His people to be financially prosperous.

4. Obedience to God demands that we become a prosperous people. God is a God of blessing. His Kingdom is a Kingdom of blessing. When we obey Him we align with His world, then we can represent Him to the world’s system, as He deserves to be represented. So to not believe in prosperity of wealth and abundance is to live well below what God intended. If we want to maximize what God intends for us we must receive Biblical prosperity. This month I pray it would become a settled issue in your heart - which is that it’s the will of God for you and your family to prosper. I bless you to prosper and be in health and as Malachi 3:10 says; as you give tithes that God will open up the window of heaven and rebuke the devour.

I bless you to be a blessing to the nations of the earth!

Reflections for March: Kingdom Giving

3/6/2016

This month I want to continue reflecting on part of the word that the Lord gave me for 2016. One of the reasons I believe it’s so important for me to reflect and meditate on the word of the Lord is because He always gives me insight on how to apply it to my own personal life. So I encourage you not only to hear the word of the Lord but also to ask God how it applies to you.

One of the most exciting things that God spoke to me as we approached the New Year was that 2016 would be a year of unprecedented prosperity for His people. Great wealth will begin to come to those who are standing in faith for provision and for overflow. This is so exciting! One of the definitions I believe for the word prosperity is this: God’s overwhelming desire to bless the people of God – including finances, so we can meet the needs of humanity. Now, we know that wealth is simply one aspect of kingdom prosperity, but I’d like to offer you some principles I’ve learned through the years regarding Kingdom economics as it relates to the kingdom of God.

Principle 1: God is your source.
Genesis 1 begins with the declarative words “In the beginning.” God is your source for all things. Not your Job, not your boss, not your career. Of course God can and does use those things, but ultimately He is our source. If you lose your job today, and you’re a believer, you are promised that God will take care of you. That’s a promise! So we must always keep at the forefront of our minds that God is our source for total supply.

Principle 2: The kingdom of heaven’s economic system does not operate according to the world’s system.
We walk by faith and not by sight. One of the greatest kingdom principles is the principle of tithing. It is imperative that you become a tither in your local church community. And contrary to some, this does not mean tithing your “time”. Tithing is money. It’s the first ten percent of all that comes in that you give back to your church community. And according to the book of Malachi, “God will rebuke the devourer for our sake” (Malachi 3:10). So never be afraid to give.

Principle 3: Learn to become an extravagant giver
You become an extravagant giver by hearing the voice of God.  In Acts 11 the prophets hear about an impending famine. So how do they respond to that alarming news? They take an offering! Following the voice of God doesn’t often make sense to our natural mind. The world says “There’s going to be a famine so we must hoard what we have”. In the Kingdom if we hear that there’s going to be a famine in the land our response is not to hoard - but to give. Do you see the major difference? We must become extravagant givers. I often encourage people to ask God for wisdom on how to handle the money that they already have.  This is imperative if we are to become the extravagant givers that God wants us to be. Look at what you need to survive every month, then look at what’s “more than enough” and believe God for that. Sure, there are times in our lives when we have “just enough” to give a “just a little” but we must believe that the ultimate goal of God in every area of our life is for us to have more than enough.

This excites me so much that I want to see it in the life of every believer that come in contact with. That you live with no credit card debt, no mortgage payments, and no car payments! I believe that is the will of God. In Deuteronomy 28 it tells us if we obey the voice of God it these kinds of financial blessings will happen. It’s not maybe, it’s not if you’re gifted enough, it’s not if you’re called to ministry, it’s not if you have a multi-million dollar building. The blessing of God is for every believer who is in Christ. So this month I pray for every person reading this blog who wants to get out of debt. I want to pray for every person who has “just” enough to get by. I want to pray and I want to believe with you that the prosperity of heaven will come upon you in ways you’ve never known. As you read this I declare debts are being paid off. Some of you are going to receive supernatural overflow to pay every one of your credit card debts off! Even as some of you are reading this you will hear the voice of the God reveal to you specific areas in which to give and specific amounts that will stretch you beyond your imagination. And you can believe God, according to Matthew 13, for a hundred-fold return on your seed.

I bless you with Kingdom prosperity and I bless you to be a blessings.

Reflections for February: Kingdom Principles

3/6/2016

Please note that my desire is not to present an exhaustive theological discussion but rather a few thoughts in regards to subjects.

Happy reading!

This month I want to take a reflective look at some of the things the Lord spoke to me as we entered into this year. If you’d like to see the complete word the Lord gave me for 2016, it’s available here for download.  One of the things that really struck me was when the Holy Spirit said that “There are those in the earth who have defined how they will proceed according to the wisdom of man and according to the world’s system.”  While I believe the Holy Spirit was referring to believers who operate according to the wisdom of man and this world system, a refreshing promise in the same word was; that the desire of the Holy Spirit is to teach His people the ways of the Kingdom that would make us fruitful here upon the earth.

A reality that I desire to live as one of the foundations of my life is that the Kingdom of God is a way of life. At the inception of creation the earth was made completely perfect. It was a perfect expression of what God desired. Everything was set up for man (humankind) to fulfill his God given destiny, to be an ambassador of God here upon the earth, and to extend the will, Kingdom, and domain of God.  We know that Adam and Eve sinned and that set things out of order. But believers, through the blood of Jesus, now have life in the Kingdom of God. Yes, the Kingdom of God is a way of life, and it is where we find our life.

I was with a pastor recently and he told me of this encounter he had with Jesus. One of the things that the Lord told him in this encounter was this; give people the message of life - Because it’s the greatest message that I’ve ever given them. Yes! Jesus said in John 14 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” So it’s imperative that we transform the way we think so we can express the will of God here upon the earth. Every one of us comes into the kingdom of God with our own ideas, culture, trauma, and difficulty. Whether we know it or not we are choosing to think a certain way when we’re in the kingdom.  But now that we’re in the kingdom the question becomes; are we thinking about life according to God’s way of thinking?

Here are some principles I’ve found that will put us on the path to thinking like God and to walking in the ways of the kingdom:

Principle 1: Romans 12:1-2 says we must present ourselves as a living sacrifice. We must, in a sense, make a conscience decision to give the dominion of God over every part of our life. We must also make a commitment to think like God so we can express His thought pattern and bring fruitfulness to the world around us.

Principle 2: There’s always evidence to what we choose to make a commitment to. I always ask myself what’s the evidence that I’ve made Jesus Lord over a particular situation. I encourage you, even as we’re in just the first few months of 2016 to be a person who evaluates where you are. The apostle Paul said to test yourself to see whether you’re in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). Self-evaluation is a sign that you’ve taken responsibility for your own spiritual development. Another question you can ask yourself is this; do you find your thinking changing? Because a kingdom principle is this: A double-minded man can receive nothing from God (James 1:8). So we’re either thinking like God or we’re thinking like the system of this world. Where you find yourself double minded ask yourself this question; what does God think about it?

The Kingdom of God is truly a way of life. It’s a place where we can walk in peace and hope and have the wisdom of God to live out the purpose of God that will point people to Him. One of the great things that God is doing in the earth right now is teaching people the ways of heaven -to be effective in the earth.

Reflections for January 2016: Seeking God First

1/7/2016

Reflections for January 2016

Last month we looked at the truth that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are fully committed to the purposes of God being established in our lives. I believe this truth should be at the forefront of the consciousness of every believer. The perfect trinity is fully committed to individuals as well as the universal Church in fulfilling that which they have called us to be and to do.

This month I would like to take a look at John 19:30.

”When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

The finished work of salvation provided forgiveness of sins for humanity so that we could be forgiven, made right with God, healed of every disease, and delivered of every oppressive thing that this world has to offer. God loved people so much that He set this plan in motion even before Adam and Eve made the worst mistake in Human history! (Jesus was the lamb slain before the foundation of the earth Revelation 13:8). God restored to humanity everything needed to be successful in this life. The cross of God is of no benefit to God himself but he loved humanity so much that he set this plan in motion. Adam had everything he needed in the Garden of Eden because God had provided it. God had given him provision.

So understand that your redemption in Christ is not complete without divine provision – which Jesus made available to us at the cross. And this is not just financial resource but also relationships you’ll need to fulfill the call of God upon your life.  It’s favor you’ll need for open doors. It’s opportunity. It’s land. It’s all the resources you need. Just as Jesus was the lamb slain before the foundation of the earth so to has God gone before you and provided for you before the foundations of the earth. Everything that you need to fulfill the commission of God has been provided to you.  If you are believing God for a television ministry, guess what? He’s already provided the cameras. He’s already provided the partners. If you’re a pastor and need land, He’s already provided the land before the foundation of the earth.  Your provision is divinely connected to your assignment. Divine provision however cannot be properly experienced unless we cooperate with the foundational principle of the Kingdom (Matt 6:33). This principle is simple. That you should seek first the Kingdom of God – and everything else will follow.

My question to you this month, especially for people who are wondering how they can live out their vision, is this. Are you seeking God FIRST? Because if you are then “all these things will be given unto you.”

I bless you with the grace to live out God’s kingdom as the primary obsession of your life in this New Year.

Abner.

Reflections: God is Totally Committed to Us.

12/4/2015

It’s really hard for me to imagine that 2015 is coming to a close.  2015 has been a wonderful year of great advance for me, and for the assignment G-d has given me. Yet I realize that for some that is not the case. In fact, for many it’s the exact opposite. Perhaps you’ve had a tough year. Maybe the holiday season brings you to a place of remembering tragedy or the apparent mountain in your life. This month I would like to look at some extremely encouraging words of Jesus found in John’s gospel.

John 14:15-18:

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. (Verse 18 emphasis on “mine”)

The thought that’s constantly been on my mind recently is that that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are fully committed to you – regardless of what you’ve been through – either good or bad. This really good news! They are fully committed to the purposes of God being established in your life and they will never leave you!

Now, while they are fully committed to us, they have also given us the privilege of personal responsibility.  One of the things I love about the kingdom is that everything God has asked us to do - walk in holiness, live in truth, live out His purposes – He has given us the power to do! You see, God will never ask us to do anything that he hasn’t given us the grace and the power for.

Here’s another thought. All of life in the kingdom is built on relationship. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are in this unique community that we are invited to be a part of. They invite us to be included in this incredible friendship with them. They are committed to us and they give us the privilege of responsibility and choice. The choice is; will we follow? That choice comes out of friendship.

God has so many thoughts towards us and He is fully willing to help us and give us wisdom for any and all situations.  To help us, guide us, and give us peace and grace to walk through them.

God is totally committed to us and to His purposes in our life and in the church. You are not at the mercy of what’s happening to you. You are not at the mercy of anything the world’s systems tell you. God’s eyes are turned towards you so continue to turn your eyes towards Him so you can discover the secrets of the mysteries of God.

Merry Christmas! Happy Chanukah! May the year 2016 be a time of encounter, fruitfulness and purpose!

More on the subject of Core Values…

This month we take look at the covenant God made with Israel in understanding the importance of this subject. In Genesis 12:3 God speaks to Abraham saying, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” That is a pretty powerful statement right there. He will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse her.  We can understand a bit about the importance of God’s eternal covenant with the nation of Israel. Did you know that part of God’s exclusive calling with Israel was that all nations on Earth would be blessed and Israel would be a redeemed nation. It is also interesting to note that Israel was the first nation with a monolithic God. Yet because of this eternal covenant, in every area of life Israel would see the grander and the splendor of the goodness of God.  We see this clearly displayed in the life of King Solomon as he ruled the nation Israel.

I personally believe that understanding God’s covenant with Israel is absolutely essential in developing a Biblical World view. Exodus 19:6 reads the following; “You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” Judaism taught that all the sacrifices, including the preeminent sacrifice of Abraham offering Isaac, were about an intercessory role for the redemption of the nations. And we must know that the heart of God in this hour is Matt 6:10 (Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven).

So, as we recognize God’s covenant with Israel as a core value, we begin to develop a worldview that understands God’s desire is to see all nations renewed. But we must ask the questions “Do Jews need to be born again”? Certainly. But also understand that in Ephesians 2 it is God’s desire is to bring together Jew and gentile for one new man. Yet we also understand that God’s faithfulness to Israel is not based on their faithfulness to Him.

I believe that in these end times we will see a great harvest in Israel and in the earth and the gospel of the Kingdom will bring transformation and change in ways we have never known. One of the focuses and the assignment of the ministry that God has given me is the Gospel of the Kingdom. This Gospel not only transforms individuals completely but also has the ability to transform nations.

Reflections: Integrity

“Core Values: Integrity”

This month as we continue our blog on Core Values let’s quickly look at something that is so crucial to every believer: Integrity. Every born-again believer is a part of the kingdom, which is based on our integrity and trust in the lordship of Jesus Christ, who is the absolute perfect king. Everything He does is perfect! Everything He says He will do, He does.  It’s simply part of His character. In Matthew 11:29 Jesus invites us, His believers, to learn of Him and His righteousness. Of course the righteousness that we have in the Kingdom is not our own but that which He gives us. And this righteousness gives us the ability to live in truth and integrity in every area of our life. Righteousness is a way of life for every believer and honor is a gift given to every man and woman. How he or she lives out that honor is a direct expression of the honor that God has given him or her. I encourage you to live a life of honor and integrity and to be a person of your word. God is a god of His word and we must be as well. Be a person who does everything you say you’re going to do. Also try not to over-commit to things - but on those occasions that you miss the mark be quick to repent. We must live a life of integrity. The world lives in a vacuum unless the people of God live and stand in a place of integrity in every sphere of life.
